[ER] Testing Node Agent - Scan Target connectivity

Introduction

This article shall serve as a guide on testing the Node/Proxy Agent connection to your scan Target using WMI.

 

Prerequisites

  • (Windows) File-sharing access to " \\ServerName\admin$\temp "
  • (Windows) Ports 135 & 139 allowed for communications between the Node Agent and Target
  • Administrative/root rights/access to the Target

 

Instructions (Windows)

  1. On the Node Agent, open the command prompt ( Start > Run > "cmd" )
  2. Enter; wbemtest
  3. Click 'Connect'
  4. In the 'Namespace' field, type in; \\AgentlessTargetServer\ROOT\CIMV2
  5. In the 'Credentials' section, fill in the credentials you would use to login to your Enterprise Recon Master Server
  6. Set 'Impersonation Level' to 'Impersonate'
    Set 'Authentication Level' to 'Packet'
  7. Click 'Connect'

Instructions (Unix)

  1. On the Node Agent, open up a Terminal window ( CTRL+ALT+T )
  2. Enter the command; sudo ssh <user>@<target>
    (Replace <user> and <target> with corresponding names)

Conclusion

If the steps above display an error, please verify if there are any firewall restrictions from the Node Agent to the Target.
Also verify if the user has the correct permissions for access.
